New rules of the road will affect drivers in Ontario. The province of Ontario will introduce a new set of traffic laws effective September 1, 2015, as part of its efforts to make driving safer in the province. Here are the five new traffic laws that are most likely to affect your everyday driving: Distracted Driving Current Penalty: $60 – $500 fine Penalty effective September 1, 2015: $490* fine and three demerit points; minimum 30-day suspension for novice drivers “Dooring” of cyclists or vehicles Current Penalty: $60 – $500 fine Penalty effective September 1, 2015: $365* fine and three demerit points Passing cyclists Current Penalty: None Penalty effective September 1, 2015: Drivers must leave a one-metre distance when passing cyclists or face a $110* fine and two demerit points; $180* fine and two demerit points for failing to leave a one-metre distance when passing cyclists in a community safety zone. Risks Associated With Ridesharing

Do you have coverage in the event of a collision during an UberX experience? The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is warning UberX drivers and passengers of the risks associated with ridesharing programs. In a press release on Thursday, the IBAO, a not-for-profit association representing and serving the interests of over 12,000 independent p&c insurance brokers in Ontario, said that there are “a number of myths that suggest insurance coverage would be recognized should an UberX driver or an UberX passenger be involved in a collision.” “The simple fact is that UberX is a new concept that Ontarians are embracing quickly, both as drivers and as passengers,” said IBAO president Michael Brattman in the release. “At this time, drivers and passengers should know that there is no existing endorsement for a personal lines policy that is available today that would guarantee them coverage or protection in the event of a collision during an UberX experience.” ...

Water and sludge in the bottom of your tank, or the effects of exterior corrosion will eventually cause small pinhole leaks to develop.
